The Editorial Junta encourages all commenters to identify themselves; however, in the heat of the current crisis and Edison's retributive environment, we understand and enthusiastically affirm all who choose to masque themselves.

Anon sets you free. Would not need it if not for a bad habit of retribution. The precedent for most recipients of letters of non-renewal has been to lose job. No one thinks 100 plus people will lose their jobs but you would have to be just plain stupid not to think that KY will thin the forest by removing a few trees. Wait and see. Management by intimidation lives at Edison. Anon.

When dealing with a mad dog, don't wear meatloaf boxers.

We think he called Marlowe a tree in the BOT meeting on the 15th, but the metaphor was so labored and muddled we couldn't be sure. KY threatened to cut trees down, as well. Marlowe says he ain't skeered, but we saw Marlowe shopping for chainsaw repellent.

Most places ya' gotta have a contract before you go a timbering. On campus it works inversely, the contracts keep the trees from being harvested prematurely. Repellent is a good thing to have too.

For all you passive, or aggressive, or passive-aggressive profs at Edison, a True/False quiz: Upon his coming to Edison, Yowell changed the pronounciation of his last name because he had been besmirched with the phrase "Yowell on the Prowl" at his previous college. T or F?

Anonymous 2, your enjoinder works equally well as "When dealing with a mad dog, don't wear thong undies."

Fill-in-the-blank follow-up exam for you Edison profs that missed the True/False question: Who was Edison staffer that was recently verbally sexually harrassed in an Edison hallway by The Prez? Bonus question: Who was Edison faculty member who overheard the crude remark?

Oooh! Oooh! I konw this one! Wait, I don't. Damn. Why hasn't this person stepped forward? Having an active sex harrassment complaint is a great way to avoid non-renewal.

Edistorial Junta, you are doing a fine job, but you missed the point in your question. More appropriately, "Why haven't any of these persons stepped forward?" Lacking witnesses? Well, it ain't over 'til it's over.

EJ
KY wouldn't correct anyone who said his name one way or the other. I was there. Once hired, he said he was having us experience a "cognitive dissonance" because we needed to realize our efforts were failures and we either needed to follow him or get out of the road. 21 years later we need for him to suffer the same "experience" and to get out of the road. He and his admin need to stop standing in the middle of the road. They are holding the college hostage to their collective will. Somehow they think the only reality is the one they see. Just isn't so. Time to look thru the other end of the telescope. Cognitive dissonance time for our three-dollar word president.

It seems inevitable that the more power you acquire over others, the more you fear retribution (since power over others is always, in a basic sense, undeserved), and fear makes people do foolish things. This particular bit of folly is essentially comic, but the fear and folly of power, it hardly needs saying, often have more serious consequences. "...Nazism was all the more effective for its irrationality and arbitrariness: there was no logic in which to take refuge." I suppose folly has its rewards.
