As a footnote, LP has found herself in our sights because the petty/personal and the professional are often braided at Edison; the weaker the CV's of the Usual Suspect, the more officiously he or she behaves. They're not separate issues. They're of a kind.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7529404967931486987.post-79035190669711084542009-11-29T19:36:29.297-05:002009-11-29T19:36:29.297-05:00Something I left out to keep the post shorter (did...Something I left out to keep the post shorter (didn't work):

Years ago, when I was fresh out of college and a year into working for Pearson Education's Custom Publishing division, I was offered a promotion and a new position. This promotion offered a much more generous salary than I was making at that time. I also got to move into a new department and a position I greatly desired.
There was one problem, my new pay grade was so much that my raise was subject to approval by the higher ups at Pearson. Despite my division's record breaking year, the rest of the company was tightening its budget. So, my new manager came up with a solution to pay me three raises in one month increments until I reached my new salary. Well, the first raise went fine, and so did the second one. But time for the third raise passed and my manager gave excuse after excuse as to why I wasn't being paid my agreed upon salary. So, I went to HR. After some speedy mediation between the HR rep, my boss, and I, I quickly had my raise.
HR stood up for a young and idealistically naive employee who wanted to do something he liked and to do it well. Of course, the older me wouldn't put up with such an arrangement, but I am forever grateful and appreciative of the Human Resources Dept., and that gratitude is something I carry with me to any job.Brianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08180043019017086425noreply@blogger.com
