The Illluminator has learned, after two years of dramatic budget cuts for faculty professional development, and repeated cries of poverty, Edison's executives have discovered a cache of funds sufficient to pay the way of a senior administrator to the yearly Board retreat in the workaday town of New York, New York. Despite a vaunted and evolving title suggesting as much, the administrator has little connection to Board functions, and the administrator's task on the trip will be allegedly to "entertain" Trustee spouses. One hopes the fruits of this meeting might trickle down to students, faculty, technology infrastructure, and facilities, which after all are not nearly as important taking Mr. or Ms. Trustee-spouse to a matinee of Mamma Mia.
